Injured eagle found in South Tamaqua

An injured bald eagle found Tuesday morning in Schuylkill County is in critical condition at a Tamaqua veterinarian.

The bird, which was found on Route 443, near Leiby’s, was taken to the Carbon County Environmental Education Center in Summit Hill by the Tamaqua Animal Rescue.Jeannie Carl from the CCEEC said that the bird “showed some fight” when given fluids and supportive care at the center before being taken to Dr. Kathryn Kropp at Companion Animal Hospital in Tamaqua.According to the Tamaqua Area Animal Rescue's Facebook page, "The report we have from the vet that is caring for the eagle, there are no signs of trauma. She is severely underweight and her legs don't seem to be responding. so it is possible that she was too weak to fly and that is why she landed in the road. They said they have seen birds in better shape not make it but also birds in worse shape pull through. Only time will tell."
