Cinicola was a 3-sport star athlete
When Dr. Corey Cinicola finished high school at Jim Thorpe in 2010, he left behind a sparkling career in both athletics and academics.
He received 11 varsity letters in three sports - four in football, four in baseball and three in basketball.In football, he holds most of the Jim Thorpe quarterback passing records, leading in career passing yards (5,116) and touchdowns (64) and in most passing yards in a season (1,954). He is presently a 2014 inductee in the Jim Thorpe Area Sports Hall of Fame as a member of the Anthracite 8 Championship Football Team. In basketball, he was a starter for three years, was captain in his senior year and, as his coach mentioned, "someone who wanted to have the ball in clutch situations".As good as Cinicola was in the other two sports, he sparkled in baseball. He started all four years at pitcher and first base and was selected to play in the USA Jr. Olympic Games representing the state of Pennsylvania.Academically, he finished in the top 5 percent of his class, was the recipient of the Dwight D. Eisenhower Leadership Award, and was a Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership Representative.After high school, he was awarded a six-and-a-half year Presidential Scholarship in physical therapy at Lebanon Valley College, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude and on the Dean's List in 2016. He was a four-year starter on the baseball team at LVC, playing first base, center field and pitcher and was selected as All-Conference in his senior year.Dr. Cinicola is currently employed by the Lehigh Valley Health Network specializing in concussion rehabilitation and is working with the Lehigh Valley Steelhawks. He is the son of Larry and Lori Cinicola of Jim Thorpe. He and his wife, Holly, presently reside in Mertztown, Pennsylvania.Over the next two weeks, the remaining inductees in the Class of 2017 - Dillon Smith and Kareem Mickens - will be featured.The Jim Thorpe Area Sports Hall of Fame Annual Induction Banquet will be held on Saturday, Aug.19 at the Jim Thorpe Memorial Hall.
