Several teens were injured during a one-car crash early Thursday morning in Mahoning Township.
Township police Chief Audie Mertz said the incident took place at 2:18 a.m. in the 1500 block of Hemlock Drive. The vehicle was traveling south and entered the right berm in a curve, before it hit with a tree, causing it to roll onto its roof with tree on top.Mertz said the driver was turning his headlights on and off, and there was another car ahead of him."So they were following each other and basically playing while driving," Mertz said.Mertz said there were four juveniles involved, three of whom were injured. The injured were treated at the scene by members of the Mahoning Valley ambulance and Lehighton paramedics, before being transported to an area trauma center.Mertz said that since they were all under the age of 18 and driving after curfew, charges will be filed. He said the matter remains under investigation.
