Franklin Township supervisors will now accept credit card payments for utility, trash and sewer bills.

The process can be done over the phone and there are plans to eventually run the system online. The township is accepting Visa, MasterCard and Discover credit cards.In other business, the township approved a bid from Fry's plastic for plain end smooth bore polyethylene thermoplastic pipes.The pipes will be used as part of a three-phase project funded by a $47,000 grant from the Carbon County Conservation District. This is the first of three phases of the project for the township. The work will be done on Evergreen Road.The township approved a request from Fire Chief Lynn Diehl for boot drives on July 29 and 30 and Aug. 20.The Franklin Township Lions Club announced a steak dinner in Slatington on Aug. 29 and a picnic in the park on Sept. 17.
