Zion Lutheran Church, Brodheadsville, is hosting a free community dinner from 5 to 6:30 p.m. tonight.All are welcome although an RSVP is appreciated.Call the church office at 570-992-6988.Chestnuthill PlanningThe Chestnuthill Township Planning Commission will meet at 7 o'clock tonight at the township municipal building on Route. 715 in Brodheadsville.Canceled meetingThe Eldred Township Planning Commission meeting scheduled for Thursday is canceled. The next meeting of the planning commission will be at 7 p.m. Aug. 17, at the municipal building.Zion SeniorsAnyone age 50 or older is invited to join the Zion Senior Citizens Group. The group will next meet at 11 a.m. Thursday.There are annual dues and folks attending should bring a sandwich. Beverages are provided.Little LeagueWest End Little League is slated to meet at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Chestnuthill Park Building in Brodheadsville.Effort pantryThe food pantry hosted by Effort UMC will be open from 10 a.m. to noon. A valid driver's license or state ID with address proving residency in the West End is required to receive service.Any questions or concerns, contact SFRC co-directors Henry McCormick and Anthony Walker through the church office at 570-629-1890, ext. 109.Mission mealOur Lady Queen of Peace Church in Gilbert will be host the West End Mission Meal for those in need from 4:40 to 5:45 p.m. Thursday.Likewise the church will host a community supper from 3 to 4 p.m. Sunday and in the meantime will have an art class ongoing from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the Cafe Friday with artist, Jean Perry, based on the legend of the sand dollar.There is a class fee.For more information, call the church at 570-681-6137.
