Carbon man given prison term for forgery, trespass and theft

A Carbon County man was sentenced to a county prison term on Monday on charges of forgery, criminal trespass and theft.

Randy Joseph Gable, 35, of Palmerton, was sentenced by President Judge Roger N. Nanovic II to serve one to 18 months in prison on each count, with the terms running concurrently. The prison term will be followed by one year of probation.Gable was charged by state police at Lehighton with entering a residence on Cornell Avenue in Lower Towamensing Township on March 26 and taking three checks belonging to the victim, forging her name and attempting to cash them.Gable is an inmate in the Northampton County prison, waiting to be transferred to a state prison for a sentence imposed in that county. Nanovic said the transfer to the state prison was delayed due to the Carbon proceeding.Nanovic also ordered Gable to make restitution of $550, get a drug and alcohol evaluation, pay court costs of about $1,000 and a $50 per month supervision fee when released on parole/probation.Nanovic ruled his sentence would run concurrent to the Northampton term, which is 24 months.
