Schuylkill man jailed for burglary

A Schuylkill County man was jailed on Friday charged with burglary and related counts.

State police at Frackville identified the man as William George Navitsky Jr., 25, of Ringtown.According to troopers the operators of the Exxon, located along Altamont Boulevard in West Mahanoy Township, just outside Frackville, discovered about $500 in state lottery tickets were missing on Friday about 9 p.m. An audit discrepancy led to surveillance video being viewed. The video showed Navitsky reaching into the separately secured area of the store where the lottery tickets are sold and on several occasions removing tickets while the clerk on duty was distracted.The accused was found to be staying at a nearby motel. Upon being taken into custody he was found in possession of drug paraphernalia. Additionally, it was discovered that earlier in the evening Navitsky had attempted to purchase merchandise with a counterfeit $100 bill.He was charged with burglary, theft and related offices and arraigned before on-call District Judge David Rossi, of Tremont. He was committed to the county prison in Pottsville after failing to post $20,000 straight cash bail.
