Monroe DA objects to man's release

The Office of Monroe County District Attorney E. David Christine Jr. has objected to a county judge's release of a man charged with attempted murder and issued a press release stating officials fear the man is "a significant risk to the community."

The release states the judge released Jexel Ortiz-Rosas, 23, on "nominal bail" despite the prosecution's "strenuous objection."Ortiz-Rosas has been charged with attempted murder for his role in a brutal beating and stabbing of a 19-year-old man last summer. The release states that although the court's bail decision has been appealed by the commonwealth, Ortiz-Rosas remains free in the community and "the commonwealth believes that Ortiz-Rosas poses a significant risk to the community."A condition of the defendant's bail requires him to remain at a residence at 151 Snowshoe Court, Apt. 202, Mount Pocono, under house arrest. The district attorney's office said if Ortiz-Rosas is observed elsewhere, residents should immediately report his whereabouts to either Pocono Mountain Regional Police 570-895-2400 or Monroe County District Attorney's Office Detective Division 570-517-3052.
