Tamaqua police released information on several citations that were recently filed with District Magisterial Judge Stephen Bayer.
• A former New Jersey resident now living in Tamaqua has been cited for lying on an application to purchase a handgun.Madeline M. Santana, 51, of Lafayette Street, Tamaqua, went to Ed's Sports Shop, 308 W. Broad St., Tamaqua on Feb. 24 to purchase a 9 mm Ruger 9E pistol. She filled out an ATF Form, stating she had never been convicted of a felony.The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms notified Tamaqua police that Santana lied on the form as she was convicted of a felony while living in New Jersey in 1987.• Adam Cruz, 33, of Clay Street, Tamaqua, was picked up on an outstanding warrant on July 11. The warrant was issued by Bayer for failure to appear for a court hearing. Officers found a syringe in Cruz's pants pocket and also cited him for possession of drug paraphernalia.He was taken to the Schuylkill County Prison in Pottsville.• Michael C. Hill Jr., 26, of Tamaqua, was picked up on an outstanding warrant on July 5.Officers saw him walking on Mauch Chunk Street at 3:25 p.m., knowing there was a warrant for his arrest. Hill tried to flee and then struggled with police. During the struggle, the police cruiser sustained a large dent in the side.Officers found two syringes and 10 empty, clear packets on Hill.He was transported to the county prison and also faces charges of possession of drug paraphernalia.
