Bowmanstown borough to install recycling containers

The Bowmanstown borough has received a Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful 25 for 25 grant award for the curbside recycling in Bowmanstown in the amount of $1,000. Bowmanstown was awarded the grant moneys to purchase 225 recycling containers with drain holes.

The project was funded by Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful's 25 in 25 Grant Program with partial support form the Richard King Mellon Foundation.The containers will be distributed to new homeowners, businesses or customers whose containers have been damaged or lost.Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful awarded 25 grants of up to $1,000 to tax exempt groups for community improvement projects in their three focus areas of Prevent It, Clean It, or Keep It. The winning projects are representative of all the different ways communities can improve including planting natives, restoring habitats, park restoration, river and community cleanups, special event recycling and more."The KPB 25 in 25 Grant Program allows us to give back to the volunteers, communities and organizations that have contributed so much over the years to our shared mission of building clean and beautiful communities," Shannon Reiter, president of Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful, said. "We are pleased to support the efforts of such a diverse group of environmental and community stewards as they work to make their communities clean and beautiful."Winners were announced via social media daily from Sept. 1 through Sept. 25.
