Navy club seeks help with plaque for Thorpe

Robert "Ski" Siesputowski, a life member of the Carbon County Navy Club Ship 260, is seeking donations for a plaque and monument that will be placed in Jim Thorpe to honor all waterborne veterans.

Waterborne veterans are men and women who have served in the U.S. Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard in the past, present and future.The Summit Hill man, who has been on a mission to place plaques honoring these men and women throughout the county, said he received permission to do the project by borough council.To date, Siesputowski and the Navy Club have erected monuments in Summit Hill, Lansford and Nesquehoning.Donations are now being sought to offset the cost of the upcoming project. Any donation is appreciated. The size of the plaque will be dependent on how much is raised.Checks can be made out to Carbon County Navy Club and "Waterborne monument" can be written in the memo line. Checks can be mailed to Robert "Ski" Siesputowski, 219 W. White St., Summit Hill, PA 18250.
