A Lansford woman has been charged by Coaldale police after she used her position as a cashier to steal money.
Managers of Pappy's Mini Mart, 113 E. Water St., noticed discrepancies in the sales versus cash in the cash register and contacted police at 7:58 p.m. April 21. Surveillance video from that day show the cashier, Christina Ann Musser, 20, of Lansford, taking cash out of the register and placing it on the counter. She then gave a pack of cigarettes to a man without taking payment.Musser also made a notation in a blue notepad and spent a considerable amount of time in the restroom. The restroom was searched and an open purse was found behind a shelf. In the purse, in plain view, was an unmarked pill bottle containing several pills and a straw. The pills were identified as oxycodone.Officers spoke to Musser, who admitted taking money from the mini mart for at least four months. She used the money to purchase drugs and provided free cigarettes to her drug dealer. The notepad was to keep track of how much money she was stealing. On April 21, that amounted to $250 for that day alone. She was charged with theft by unlawful taking, possession of misbranded controlled substances, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and retail theft.
