Thorpe Lions sponsor Hometown Heroes

The Jim Thorpe Lions Club is sponsoring the Jim Thorpe Hometown Heroes program, displaying banners throughout the town honoring service personnel.

Each banner will be unique and will honor a service member, with the service member's photo, branch of service, area of service, and hometown.Any service member active, living or deceased is eligible for placement on the banner.Each banner will be 24 inches wide by 48 inches high and will display the sponsor's name on the bottom.The project is non-political and nonpartisan and is a living memorial to those service personnel from our area who served or are serving our country.Applications can be obtained at the Mauch Chunk Pharmacy, the Jim Thorpe Borough Office, or the Veterans Affairs Office in the Carbon County Courthouse Annex. The deadline to submit applications is July 15.Anyone desiring more information or an application can also contact Jim Trainer at 570-325-4104 or Sandra Gallagher at 570-325-2206 or any Jim Thorpe Lions Club member.
