East Penn supervisors praise road crew

One of the chief complaints at East Penn Township's board of supervisors' meetings in the past few years has been the condition of the municipality's roads.

On Monday night, however, supervisors lauded the work of its road crew, noting the amount of work already completed this summer."They're working together and getting the job done," said Supervisor John Strockoz. "The jobs are ahead of schedule and we haven't always seen a group working this well together so it's nice to see."Supervisor Steve Heckman said repairs on Churchill Road have been finished and it is ready for a tar and chip project."Hollow Road is also ready for tar and chip," he said. "There are a few holes to be blacktopped over on Friendship Road. Crews started on West Bowmans Road on Monday morning."The plan was for crews to continue on West Bowmans Road on Tuesday."They are taking their holiday on Thursday so it is not going to be an overtime situation," Board Chairman William Schwab said.Schwab asked his colleagues to begin putting together a list of roads they would like to see on the work list for 2018."It will allow us to get our engineer, Michael Muffley, to get prices on those as we head into budget season," Schwab said.
