Two Carbon County men are facing drug charges after police caught them preparing to distribute drugs in Nesquehoning.

Terence Moore, 30, of West Bertsch Street, Lansford, and Anthony Steven Thorpe, 30, of Stock Street, Nesquehoning, were arrested and charged on June 30.Moore faces charges of possession with the intent to deliver a controlled substance, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, criminal conspiracy, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving under a suspended license and criminal use of communication facility. Thorpe faces possession with the intent to deliver a controlled substance, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, criminal conspiracy and possession of drug paraphernalia.According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by Nesquehoning officer Timothy Wuttke, on June 30, the Carbon County detective contacted the department in regard to an ongoing investigation that started earlier in the day during a traffic stop in Lansford.During that stop, Chief Sean Smith said on June 30, that the occupants of that vehicle, who have not yet been named, provided information that led police to the parking lot of Redner's Warehouse Market.The affidavit states Moore was at Redner's for the purpose of selling methamphetamine to a witness in the store. Moore was reportedly communicating with the witness via Facebook Messenger.The county detective and Jim Thorpe police conducted surveillance at Redner's and identified Moore in a Chevrolet Silverado, as well as another man, later identified as Thorpe, in the passenger seat.Nesquehoning police arrived at Redner's and stopped Moore as he was walking into the store, while other officials detained Thorpe in the truck.A search of the truck was conducted and police found a light blue backpack ontaining Moore's identification and 73 bags of suspected heroin, two baggies of suspected heroin, a digital scale, six syringes and several plastic bags used to package drugs.Inside the truck, police also found another baggie with suspected crystal meth, 15 additional bags of suspected heroin and more plastic bags used for packaging drugs.Moore told police he was at Redner's to either meet someone to deliver meth or get money from and take it to a person in the Summit Hill area whom he had prearranged the pickup and delivery of meth.Moore also admitted that Thorpe had knowledge of the sale and delivery and the crystal meth was what Thorpe had with him.Both Moore and Thorpe were arraigned before District Judge Eric Schrantz on July 1 and are awaiting a preliminary hearing set for July 12.Both are currently incarcerated at the Carbon County Correctional Facility after being unable to post the $5,000 bail that was set.
