Vehicle stop leads to charges

A vehicle stop on July 1 has led to the arrest of the driver for suspected driving under the influence and his arrest on a fugitive warrant.

State police at Lehighton said Ronald Lee Mackes Jr., 58, of Gilbert, was stopped at 7:05 p.m. along Burger Hollow Road, at Long Mountain Road, in Polk Township, Monroe County. He was found to be under the influence and in possession of a controlled substance. He was requested to submit to a blood test.While at the stop troopers learned that Mackes had an outstanding warrant for his arrest issued out of New Jersey. He was placed into custody and transported to the county prison in Snydersville on the warrant.
