CARBON COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

Carbon County commissioners approved a number of personnel moves on Thursday.

• Retirement: Linda Balliet of Lehighton as assistant purchasing manager, effective Sept. 5.• Resignation: Donna L. Kemmerle of Lehighton, deputy coroner, effective June 1.• Hire: Richard W. Anthony Jr. of Lehighton, part-time parking attendant, effective July 3.• Internship: Fatima Brown of Scotrun, East Stroudsburg University criminal justice and sociology major, from Aug. 28 to Dec. 21.Other businessThe commissioners also acted on the following items:• Approved an agreement with West Publishing Corporation for the Westlaw Next subscription package for three years for both the electronic Westlaw ProFlex and West Complete Library hard-bound books. The monthly cost for the ProFlex for the first 12 months is $5,250, not to increase more than 3 percent for each of the following two years. The monthly cost for the hard-bound books for the first year is $3,776.80, not to increase more than 5 percent for each of the next two years.• Approved an agreement with Tyler Technologies for a software upgrade to its .NET platform along with implementing and training support. The estimated cost of the project is $299,415.• Approved the Pennsylvania Counties Risk Pool Loss Prevention grant application for $12,727.91 to be used toward the purchase of a server, PC and domain controller for the Guard1 Timekeeping System and network security at the Carbon County Correctional Facility.• Approved the termination of a lease agreement with the Carbon County Chapter of The Arc regarding Camp Apple Tree.• Approved the fiscal/local elected officials agreement with Monroe, Pike and Wayne counties designating Carbon County as the fiscal agent for funds received under the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act for the Pocono counties, as required by the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry. The term of the agreement is through Dec. 31, 2020.
