AARP driver safety course

AARP will hold its Smart Driver four- and eight-hour class as a refresher and defensive driving course designed for qualified drivers ages 55 and above at 1 p.m. on July 15 and 22 at the Chestnuthill Park Building in Brodheadsville.

The eight-hour class is done in two four-hour sessions over the two days.A one-day, four-hour course is also open to those who can provide evidence of taking the class within the past 36 months. AARP membership is not necessary and there are no tests.There is a fee for members and nonmembers.Those who complete the course will receive a certificate of completion good for three years.All auto insurance companies who do business in Pennsylvania are legally required to give a minimum discount of 5 percent to all qualified policy holders age 55 and above who complete the course. Check with your provider before registering to see if you qualify.Advanced registration is advised as seating is limited. Those attending should bring their driver's license and a pen. AARP members must bring their AARP card to receive a $5 discount.For more information call 570-619-0046.
