Disabled car leads to drug charges in Coaldale

Coaldale Police were helping a motorist with a disabled vehicle on June 28 when the officer noticed a small, white wax bag on the ground, under the black dodge Neon. No one accepted ownership of the bag, which was stamped “Timeout.”

It started at 1:33 p.m. when the Neon, driven by Lucia Stroble, 31, of Bethlehem, broke down on Manila Grove, blocking the roadway. As Hope’s Towing of Tamaqua prepared to pull the Dodge onto a flatbed, the wax bag came into view. Stroble and her two adult passengers denied owning the bag.Stroble gave the officer permission to search the car, which still had her purse inside. The purse yielded a multicolor zippered bag containing an uncapped syringe, a small blue baggie with white powder residue, a cotton swab and a blue baggie of rubber bands. She was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia and endangering the welfare of the child, a toddler, who was also in the car.
