The 14U Valley Regional Warriors girls travel softball team opened its 2017 summer season with a first-place finish in the PONY Keystone Select Steamtown Sizzler national qualifier fastpitch tournament in Scranton. The team, which is made up of girls from the Tamaqua, Panther Valley, Hazleton, Crestwood, Lake Lehman, Nanticoke and Wyoming Area school districts, went 5-0 during the two-day event. Three of the Warriors' first four wins came in walk-off fashion before they capped the tourney with a dominant 11-6 victory over the Robbinsville, NJ Rampage.
