Dakosty Jr. promoted to associate head coach at Colgate

It was announced Friday that Stan Dakosty Jr. will be promoted to associate head coach of the Colgate University football team, effective July 1.

Dakosty is entering his 11th season on the Colgate coaching staff, and his eighth overseeing the Raider secondary. He serves as the football recruiting coordinator for the Football Championship Subdivision, formerly Division 1-AA, program.As a member of the staff, Dakosty has been apart of five Patriot League championships with Colgate, including a 2003 march to the national championship game and a 2015 trip to the NCAA quarterfinals.Dakosty started his coaching career as an undergraduate at Colgate, serving as a student assistant and assistant video coordinator in 2003 before working with the tight ends in 2004. Dakosty also enjoyed a two-year playing career for the Raiders, which included a Patriot League title in 2002. His playing career ended prematurely due to injury.Prior to his time at Colgate, Dakosty coached the 2005 and 2006 seasons at Division III Amherst College, where he led the running backs. When he returned to Colgate, Dakosty worked with the team's tight ends and fullbacks during his first three seasons before taking over the secondary.The Tamaqua native graduated from Colgate in 2005 with a degree in history and educational studies. During his time on the Amherst staff, he earned a master's degree in education and his social studies teacher's certification at the University of Massachusetts in 2006.Dakosty and his wife, Jess, reside in Hamilton, New York, and are the proud parents of three children, Stanley, Nora and Tommy. He is the son of former Marian football coach Stan Dakosty Sr. and Mary Dakosty.
