A pedestrian was injured when he was struck by a hit-and-run driver in an incident in Carbon County.

State police at Lehighton said Jason C. Wambold, 22, of Tamaqua, was standing on the north shoulder of Route 443, near the Mahoning Valley Race Track, in Mahoning Township, about 3 a.m. on June 23 when he was struck by a vehicle which was traveling westbound. Troopers said the vehicle made minor contact with Wambold.The police report indicates Wambold was transported by Lehighton EMS unit to the Lehigh Valley Hospital - Cedar Crest. The hit-and-run vehicle was described as being a Volkswagen Jetta. No other information was released by troopers.
