Police: Man hit woman, drew knife

A Lansford man faces assault charges stemming from a domestic dispute.

John Tristian Urso is accused of repeatedly striking a woman and drawing a knife.According to police, the woman sustained injuries to her head, chest and hands during the incident.Police were called to Urso's apartment at 9 a.m. on June 18.The victim told police she went looking for Urso after he didn't return home the night before.She told police she found him in an apartment upstairs with multiple women.Urso allegedly tried to push her down the stairs as they walked back to the apartment. She locked him outside. She opened the door after he asked to get clothes from inside, but he started hitting her.She admitted to swinging a toaster oven at him. Urso then allegedly picked up a jewelry box belonging to the victim and brandished a knife. She grabbed at it and sustained a cut to the hand.A neighbor reported hearing a woman screaming for help from inside the residence.Urso was still inside the residence. He admitted hitting the woman in the face. He denied brandishing the knife.He was sent to Carbon County Correctional Facility in lieu of $3,000 bail.A preliminary hearing has been tentatively set for June 28.
