Cancer service

To cap off this weekend's Cancer Society Relay For Life event, Zion Lutheran Church will host a special worship service for cancer survivors and caregivers at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, following the relay. The service, a blend of traditional and modern worship services, will include Communion.Earlier in the day, members of Zion's Outreach Team will distribute prayer shawls, handmade by Gwen Evans, to survivors at the relay.Due to the special service this Saturday, the celebration of Zion's 200th Saturday evening service has been postponed until July 1. Following the service, there will be a covered dish, indoor picnic.The church is located at Greenwood and Mauch Chunk streets.Rush-Ryan seniorsThe Rush, Ryan and Delano Senior Citizens Inc. met June 13 at the Ryan Township Fire Company with 62 members in attendance. President Bill Morrison conducted the business session and provided the inspirational reading "Always a Way."New member Michael Konidas and returning members Joyce Krell and Doris Yeager were given warm welcomes.Birthday wishes were extended to Lorraine Lupcho, Elaine Truskey and Bill Morrison, while Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Krell were congratulated on reaching their 58th wedding anniversary.Members were reminded of the upcoming anniversary dinner, which will be held June 27 at Capriotti's.The group meets the second and fourth Tuesday of every month at the Ryan Township Fire Company in Barnesville. The next meeting will be held July 11.Anyone 55 or older is welcome to join.Soup socialThe next monthly community soup social at Trinity United Church of Christ will be held July 1.
