Franklin Township supervisors voiced their displeasure with a recent clog made in their Weissport pumping station at a meeting Tuesday night.
The supervisors said two weeks ago a large clog was found in a pumping station because of cloth towels that were pumped through a lines to the station. The board said there had been problems in the past with paper products such as paper towels, but now full cloth was being flushed or rinsed into pumping systems and causing extensive damage to the station. They said they expect an expensive repair bill once damages are fully assessed and noted they want residents to stop flushing cloth into the lines.Other business at the meeting included approving the release of half the funds in an account set up to help fund the construction of a retention pond. Supervisors voted to release half the funds of the Klecha Escrow account now that the retention pond in question only needs to be seeded before it is fully complete. The board also donated $36,000 to the township fire department and thanked the department for their services to the township. The fire company placed the donation into its truck fund to continue firetruck payments. The board also added Thomas R. Beltz to the roster of licensed CDL drivers. Before the meeting began, Walter Achey was sworn in as a member of the Franklin Township Fire Police.Following his oath he offered comment that the fire police are seeking help. All able-bodied men and women may apply.
