Carbon man admits hitting son with a belt, causing injuries

A Carbon County man admitted in the county court on Tuesday to hitting his young son with a belt, causing injuries.

Quint Leroy Dortch II, 30, of Lansford, pleaded guilty to one count of simple assault before Judge Joseph J. Matika.Lansford police charged Dortch following an incident on Nov. 28, 2016. Police received information that a then 4-year-old boy had bruises to his lower back and right hip and the injuries were consistent with being struck by a belt.Police questioned Dortch, who admitted striking his son "on the butt."A charge of endangering the welfare of a child was dropped in a plea agreement with the district attorney's office.Matika deferred sentencing and ordered the adult probation office to prepare a presentence investigation report.
