Tamaqua's Joseph will play softball at Salisbury

Recent Tamaqua High School graduate Cailyn Joseph will be attending Salisbury University in Maryland to continue her academic and athletic careers.

Joseph will play softball at Salisbury.A four-year starter for the Raider softball team, Joseph finished with 109 hits in her career. During her senior season, she had a .485 batting average, a .549 on base percentage, and a .647 slugging percentage. She also knocked in 24 runs.Joseph, who played centerfield for the Raiders, captained the team during both her junior and senior seasons. She was a Class 2A second team All-State selection in 2016.In addition to her softball success, Joseph was a four-year starter for the Raider soccer team. This past season, she was a second-team All-League selection on defense and also was named Tamaqua's Soccer Scholar-Athlete.Joseph was a member of the National Honor Society, was student government treasurer, was member of the biology and physics clubs, and was nominated for both the homecoming court and senior prom queenCailyn is the daughter of Charles and Romayne Joseph. She plans to major in biology at Salisbury.
