Palmerton Area School District's board of directors took the following action Tuesday night:

• Granted permission to release the 2017 tax duplicates to the respective tax collectors for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2017.• Approved the 2017-18 workers' compensation coverage through CM Regent at an estimated cost of $128,927.• Approved the athletic insurance coverage through Axis Insurance Company for the period of Aug. 7, 2017, through Aug. 6, 2018, at a cost of $34,706 with primary excess coverage over $100.• Approved voluntary student accident coverage through Axis Insurance Company for the period of Aug. 7, 2017, through Aug. 6, 2018, for a 24-hour wraparound rate of $75, benefits excluding all sports.• Approved the Music Theatre International Production contract for the performance of Disney's Mulan Jr. scheduled for September 2017.• Approved the contract with Shop Specialties Inc. for shop machinery maintenance in the 2017-18 school year at a cost of $1,450 plus any parts required throughout the year.• Approved a 0.3 percent increase per member in stop loss coverage for the 2017-18 fiscal year through the Great Midwest Insurance Company. The per employee per month charge will be $133.07 with a maximum per employee deductible set at $125,000.• Approved the WB Mason copy paper quote for the 2017-18 school year at $19.83 per carton.• Approved a Movie Licensing USA single event public performance site license retroactive to the showing of the movie "Sing" at Towamensing Elementary on June 19.• Authorized the superintendent and business manager to make and release payments for the remaining June and July accounts payable.• Approved all budget transfers for the fiscal year ending June 30 in order to comply with audit requirements.• Approved an unpaid leave for Margaret Versuk from May 31 through the end of the school year.• Approved Don McGorry as a summer extended school year teacher at the rate of $30 per hour.• Approved tenure for Christine DeLong, Jaclyn Kessel, Erin Brown, Amber Kistler, Kristina Manning, Michelle Davis and Krystle Meglio.• Approved Rachel Harry, Fallon Singleton and Megan Wentz as substitute teachers.• Approved Deb Sheckler as board secretary from July 1, 2017, through June 30, 2021, at a rate of $1,500 per year.• Approved Kim Ottinger, assistant board secretary, effective July 1, 2017, through June 30, 2021.• Approved a change of status for Rebecca Sabo to full-time art teacher, effective in the 2017-18 school year.• Accepted the resignation of Lori Hawk as special education secretary, effective June 16, 2017.• Approved Melissa Hoffman as a junior high math teacher, effective July 1, 2017, at $43,982.• Approved Jennifer Denaro as a junior high special education teacher, effective July 1 at $46,157.• Approved Bronwyn Cseh as an elementary health and physical education teacher, effective July 1, at $43,982.• Accepted the resignation of Casey Rinfret, instructional assistant, effective June 21.• Approved Elizabeth Campbell, Brenda Roberts, Brandi Hoffman and Jennifer Potoczak as instructional assistants at hourly rates of $14.47.• Approved first readings to policy revisions dealing with communicable diseases and immunization, health examinations, administration of medications and emergency care, and student wellness.• Approved an agreement with Safe Schools for safety and compliance employee training in the amount of $1,125.• Approved an agreement with Pa. Treatment and Healing as one of the district's alternative education placement programs for the 2017-18 school year.• Approved Andrew Remsing as the summer program facilitator of the eBridges course/credit recovery program for students in grades 7-12 at the rate of $30 per hour. The program will run from June 26 to July 13, Monday through Thursday. The student cost is $160 per course.• Approved an agreement with the Meadows School for the 2017-18 and 2018-19 school years at the rate of $65 per day as needed.• Approved an agreement with Central Susquehanna Intermediate Unit 16 for computer services at a rate based on student enrollment and estimated cost of $23,000.• Approved Angela Harris as a volunteer drama coach, effective June 21.
