Park concert

This Sunday, the band Inch & the Echoes will perform in the Palmerton Borough Park Bandstand. The concert begins at 7 p.m. and is sponsored by District Judge Bill Kissner. Bring a lawn chair. The Bandstand Committee reserves the right to cancel a concert in case of inclement weather.Food pantryThe Food Pantry for Palmerton Area families in need will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Fridayat St. John's Lutheran Church, 2915 Fireline Road, Palmerton. The CACPAC-sponsored pantry serves households in Palmerton, Towamensing and Lower Towamensing townships, and the Palmerton Area School District including Bowmanstown.The Palmerton Food Pantry is in need of canned goods, nonperishable food items and monetary donations. If you can help, please bring food items to any CACPAC member, as most area churches collect on a regular basis. Food distribution is the fourth Friday of each month.American LegionThe Palmerton American Legion Post 269 will meet at 7:30 p.m. Tuesdayat the VFW Post, 2020 Forest Inn Road, Palmerton. The group meets the fourth Tuesday of each month.Church PicnicJerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church, 500 Church Drive, Trachsville, will hold its annual church picnic on Saturday. The picnic begins at noon. There will be a free kiddie cakewalk, and games for the children in the afternoon. At 4 p.m. entertainment will be by the James Hummel Band featuring Lorri Woodward. They play gospel, country and oldies. An adult cakewalk will be in the evening. Come and enjoy a day filled with great food, fun and fellowship. The raindate will be June 25.Outdoor serviceAn outdoor service (weather permitting) will be held at 9 a.m. Sundayat Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church, 500 Church Drive, Trachsville.BingoBingo is held every Friday night at the West End Fire Co. no. 2 of Palmerton. Doors open at 5 p.m. Warm-up games start at 6 p.m. and Bingo at 7 p.m. There is an intermission with food and beverages for purchase. The Fire Co. is located at 855 W. Princeton Ave., Palmerton. They are held at the Zinc City Race track, located on Route 209 (1 mile south of Kresgeville).
