Marian High School graduate Emily Sofranko, a Wilkes University student, has been awarded a Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) selection for Academic and Athletic Excellence.

Sofranko, a member of the women's basketball team, had a 4.0 GPA.Sofranko played in all 25 games for Wilkes this past basketball season, averaging 24 minutes a contest. She averaged 3.7 points, 2.5 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.7 steals per game. She scored a season-high 11 points on Jan. 18 against DeSales.Emily was also recently chosen as National Honor Society President of Wilkes University and received Dean's List again this spring semester. In addition, she was recently inducted into the Elite Colonels for her academic and athletic excellence at Wilkes.Emily will be a senior this fall at Wilkes. She is majoring in education, special education and math.She is the daughter of Mike and Therese Sofranko of Jim Thorpe.
