Schuylkill chamber sponsors Chamber Day

On June 7, more than 100 state and local chamber officials participated in 2017 Chamber Day.

Co-hosted by the Pennsylvania Chamber of Business and Industry and the Pennsylvania Association of Chamber Professionals, the annual event provided an opportunity for them to meet with legislators to discuss ways to improve the state's business climate and competitive edge.The Schuylkill County Chamber of Commerce attended with a delegation of nine representatives from its Government Affairs and Transportation Committees.The chamber, as well as 12 others from across the state, also helped to sponsor the event.Robert S. Carl Jr., Schuylkill Chamber president and CEO, said the officers discussed the state budget, pension reform, property tax review, workforce development, and transportation/infrastructure in regard to state and federal legislative agendas.The day began with opening remarks from Senate Pro Tempore Joseph Scarnati, R-Jefferson, and Speaker of the House Mike Turzai, R-Allegheny. Gov. Tom Wolf served as the keynote speaker in the afternoon.
