On June 2, 36 students at Jack and Jill Preschool celebrated the end of their term with a closing program and reception at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lehighton.
The theme for this year was God's Global Barnyard, and the church's sanctuary was decorated to look like a farm. Sue Lovejoy, church organist, provided a prelude of music, and intern Vicar Lauren Heywood offered the welcome and invocation to the children and families. The preschoolers were part of the fun by wearing various animal visors while they sang songs and recited rhymes about their favorite animals.Twenty-two of the preschoolers are moving on to kindergarten in the fall, and in addition to a certificate to mark the event, they all received a book about kindergarten from the Jack and Jill parent organization. The remaining 14 children also received a certificate for having completed their primary term at Jack and Jill. They will be returning in the fall for their prekindergarten term.A freewill offering was taken after the program which will go to support ELCA world hunger. The evening ended with more farm-themed fun at a reception in Luther Hall sponsored by the preschool's parent organization.Jack and Jill is located at 230 Iron St. in Lehighton and is a ministry of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran church.
