Route 443 in West Penn Township was closed Tuesday afternoon, due to a single-vehicle crash in the village of Mantzville. Police reported a Lehighton man was traveling east just past the intersection with Mantzville Road, when an animal ran out in front of him. He said he swerved to the left entering the berm impacting with and snapping off a utility pole. The car mowed down a chain link fence and destroyed a gate.
