The Monroe County Commissioners approved contracts for bridge work Wednesday,
Papillon and Moyer Excavating and Paving LLC will receive $243,465 for the 2016 bridge maintenance program.DeAngelo Brothers LLC will receive $178,001.56 for 2017-2019 bridge deck cleaning and vegetation control.The board also approved an agreement with Secuitas Security Services USA for armed security services at the administrative center. The contract covers a three-year period at a rate beginning at $24.60 per hour.A contract was awarded for basic SWAT training for the Northeastern Regional Counter Terrorism Task Force at Storm Mountain Training Center in the amount of $13,225.Additional security cameras were approved for the courthouse.In other business:• Joseph Ruvane and Chuck Leonard were reappointed to the Pocono Counties Workforce Development Board until June 30, 2020.• George Barthelenghi was reappointed to the Pocono Mountains Municipal Airport Authority with a term to expire May 17, 2022.• Paige Fetterly, Charlie Lynn Trapasso and Ann Sincovitch were appointed to the Children and Youth Advisory Board.Commissioner John Christy praised Trapasso for obtaining 800 pieces of luggage from Mount Airy Casino for young adults leaving the program to pack their belongings.Chairman John Moyer said he was pleased to report that voter turnout for the recent primary election in Monroe County was higher than he had estimated immediately after the election.Moyer said. "I am happy to say that it was 14 percent that turned out to vote. Now that is still not enough, people need to get involved, but it is better than I originally thought."
