Couple in domestic incident out on bail

A couple accused in a violent domestic dispute were in court on Wednesday.

Shannon and Gregory Sabo, of Lansford, both waived their right to a preliminary hearing on charges stemming from an incident that occurred May 2.They were also released from police custody after a judge agreed to reduce their bail.Shannon Sabo is accused of attempted homicide for allegedly firing a gun at her husband during the dispute.Gregory Sabo in turn faces charges of strangulation for his role in the fight.According to court documents, the couple told police they got into a verbal dispute over Gregory speaking to another woman online.Shannon told police that she told her children to go to a neighbor's house so they would not be able to hear the arguing from outside.She claimed that Greg Sabo then knocked her glasses off. She said while she searched for them on the floor, he grabbed her from behind and choked her until she nearly passed out.Police noted there were fresh marks and scratches on her neck and arm.Greg Sabo told police that his wife ordered him out of the house, which he refused. He said that she went up stairs to their bedroom and retrieved a 9mm handgun.He said that they continued to yell at each other, at which point Shannon allegedly started shooting.Police arrested them both, and they were sent to Carbon County Correctional Facility, where both had been held until Wednesday's hearing. Shannon's bail was set at $1 million because of the attempted homicide charge, while Greg's was $25,000.After the hearing, Judge Casimir T. Kosciolek agreed to change their bail to unsecured, making way for them to be released.A formal arraignment is scheduled for July 27.
