2 injured in West Penn crash

Two women were injured Saturday evening when involved in a crash at the intersection of Route 309 and Dairy Road in West Penn Township.

According to witnesses, a southbound tractor-trailer ran the red light at the South Tamaqua intersection.The two women in a car were traveling west on Dairy Road, entering the intersection when they struck the rear tandem wheels of the rig.The two were treated at the scene by members of the Mahoning Valley and New Ringgold ambulances and Lehigh paramedics.West Penn Police Sgt. Jason Lorah is investigating the incident. Responding to the scene was the West Penn fire company No.1.West Penn Fire police maintained traffic control at the scene.
