2 injured in West Penn crash

Two women were injured Saturday evening when involved in a crash in West Penn township.

The crash occurred at the intersection of Route 309 and Dairy Road.

According to witnesses a southbound tractor trailer ran the red light at the South Tamaqua intersection.

The two women in a car were traveling west on Dairy Road entering the intersection when they struck the rear tandem wheels of the rig. The two women were treated at the scene by members of the Mahoning Valley and New Ringgold ambulances and Lehigh paramedics.

West Penn police Sgt. Jason Lorah is investigating the incident. Responding to the scene was the West Penn fire company #1.

West Penn Fire police maintained traffic control at the scene.
