Checkpoint in Monroe nets 3 DUI arrests

Three motorists were arrested for driving under the influence after state police conducted a DUI Checkpoint at the intersection of Old Route 115 and Anchorage Road in Ross Township from 9 p.m. May 27 to 3 a.m. May 28.

Police said they also issued 14 citations during the checkpoint.

Twelve motorists were tested but were released after they passed standardized field sobriety tests, police said.

Police said the checkpoint is an effort to reduce the amount of accidents caused by impaired drivers and to increase awareness of the dangers of operating a vehicle while under the influence.
