Marian Catholic names valedictorian, salutatorian

Jean Susko, principal at Marian Catholic High School in Hometown, has announced the top members of the Class of 2017 who will address their classmates at the upcoming commencement exercises.

Edward J. Kolonsky and Anthony Collevechio have been named valedictorian and salutatorian respectively.Kolonsky is the son of Edward and Johanna Kolonsky of Shenandoah. Inducted into the Robert Kennedy Chapter of the National Honor Society in his junior year, he is a member of the Spanish Honor Society, Peer Tutoring, Eucharistic Minister and Future Business Leaders of America. He also participated in the senior class play and Pennsylvania Citizens Bee.During his four years at Marian, Kolonsky achieved Distinguished Honors as a Schuylkill County Scholar, American Chemical Society Regional Winner, Schuylkill County Band, Allentown Diocese Band, Allentown Side by Side Band, Lebanon Valley College Honors Band, PMEA District 10 Band.In his community, E.J. participated in the Cressona Community Band, Anthracite Youth Wind Ensemble and Pine Grove Community Band. He is an altar server at Divine Mercy Parish and plans to attend Lebanon Valley College, majoring in actuarial science.Collevechio is the son of Robert and Mary Jean Collevechio of Summit Hill. Inducted into the Robert Kennedy Chapter of the National Honor Society in his junior year, he serves as Student Council Treasurer and was named Marian Catholic High School Scholar Athlete. Collevechio is a member of the football team and baseball team, serving as captain.He is an altar server, sacristan and lector at St. Joseph's Parish in Summit Hill and plans to attend LaSalle University, majoring in accounting.Baccalaureate is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Friday, June 2, in the school gymnasium.Principal Susko will confer 96 diplomas to members of the class during commencement exercises, which will be held at 11 a.m. on June 3 in the gym.
