Early morning traffic was rerouted off Route 54 in the Hauto Valley Estates portion of Nesquehoning today after a vehicle crashed into a utility pole.

The crash happened at approximately 6:15 a.m. when a Subaru hit a utility pole, sheering it off its base. Power went out momentarily to the homes surrounding the crash.Route 54 was closed between Second and Third avenues so emergency crews could work. Fire companies from New Columbus, Hauto, Nesquehoning and Jim Thorpe, and the Nesquehoning Ambulance and Nesquehoning police responded to the scene.No other information was available at this time.
