State police at Lehighton are investigating a fatal crash Monday evening in Lower Towamensing Township.

The crash occurred near 6 p.m. in the 2500 block of Hahns Dairy Road.

A woman was traveling east when for some unknown reason her car left the right berm traveling along a lawn before going over a storm ditch into a tree.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by Carbon County Coroner Robert Miller.

Hahns Dairy road was closed to traffic for several hours.
