FRACKVILLE - State and local police are scouring the area for a person who robbed Miners Bank on South Lehigh Avenue in West Mahanoy Township Friday morning. The crime happened just after 9 a.m. and the person responsible fled the area on foot, apparently into woods nearby. A suspicious package found inside the bank after the robbery prompted the evacuation of the building and a response from a state police bomb squad in Hershey. Just after 11 a.m. bomb squad members removed a package from the building, examined it an a short time later began removing their equipment. West Mahanoy Township Police Chief Marvin Livergood said no additional information was available. No injuries were reported.
