Man left rehab, didn't report back to prison

Leaving an inpatient rehabilitation facility and then not reporting back to the Carbon County Correctional Facility as directed has led to big negative consequences for a county man.

Bradley P. Zettlemoyer, 33, of Nesquehoning, was furloughed from the county prison to attend an inpatient Salvation Army drug rehab program in Harrisburg. When furloughed, he was told if he left the facility early or was discharged from it for violating the rules, he had to immediately report back to the county prison.Zettlemoyer left the rehab facility without being discharged but failed to report back to the county prison.Last week he pleaded to one count of escape and is facing a state prison term.Judge Joseph J. Matika accepted the plea but deferred sentencing as Zettlemoyer said he wants to apply for placement in the state's Intermediate Punishment Program.Matika said he would sign an order directing Zettlemoyer be taken to a state correctional institution to be evaluated for the program. If he is accepted he will be sentenced via video conference from the state prison to which he is assigned. However, if he is rejected for the program, he will be brought back to Carbon for sentencing.
