Tamaqua Area School Board recently approved the following:

• The retirements of high school teachers Lewis Ginder, Barry Wargula, and Sharon Chromiak; middle school teachers Sheryl Weston and Maura Streisel; and elementary teacher Harriet Gustus, all at the end of the 2016-17 school year.• The rescinding of motions from April 18, 2017, approving Rebecca Luna and Jessica Mazaika as 2017 ESY teachers, and Jacqueline Petrucci as a 2017 ESY paraprofessional.• The resignation of Jacqueline Petrucci as a part-time paraprofessional, effective April 21, and Nancy Grigalunas as a part-time paraprofessional, effective May 31.• Cindy Dover, Jennifer Florea, Kim Modesto, and Terry Koch as paraprofessionals for the 2017 ESY Program.• Emilie Baker, teacher for the 2017 ESY Program, at $25 per hour.• Acknowledgment that Michelle Argust, professional employee, completed three years of service with satisfactory ratings in each semester, and be given professional status as of May 17.LiaisonsDiane Michalik, Tamaqua Elementary K-2 liaison teacher; Cynthia Viel, Tamaqua Elementary grades 3-5; Alicia Murphy, Tamaqua Elementary special education; Vanessa Boyle, West Penn Elementary grades K-2; Michele Bittner, West Penn Elementary grades 3-5; Jennifer Kinder, West Penn Elementary special education.Department chairpeople• Middle school: Kristine Schellhammer, language arts; Megan Frantz, mathematics; Edward Mariano, science; Jennifer Disante, social studies; William Kimber, special education.• High school: Thomas I.
