Even though members of the Tamaqua Area Community Theatre are busy rehearsing the adult musical comedy "Avenue Q," they are looking ahead to the next production, which will be "Our Town."Auditions will be held from 6-8 p.m. June 2 and from 9 a.m. to noon June 3 at the Tamaqua Community Art Center, 125 Pine St. Callbacks will be held on June 4. Anyone, 13 and older, planning to audition should come prepared to read a monologue. Monologues will be provided to anyone who doesn't bring their own."Our Town" is a three-act play, written by Thornton Wilder, set in the fictional small town of Grover's Corners, New Hampshire. The story takes place between the years 1901 and 1913.The production is made possible through an arrangement with Samuel French Inc."Avenue Q" will be presented at 7 p.m. June 9 and 2 and 7 p.m. June 10 at the art center.Business WomenThe Tamaqua Area Business and Professional Women's club will meet at 6:30 p.m. June 6 at the Tamaqua Station Restaurant. The meeting will include installation of officers for 2017-18.New members are always welcome.The reservation deadline is June 1. President Melody Weicker conducted the business session and provided the inspirational reading "Let us Praise the Lord."Barbara Gallagher was welcomed back to the club.Members were reminded to wear red, white and blue to the next meeting, May 25, in honor of Memorial Day. The meeting will include a memorial service and a picnic.The group is open to anyone 55 or older.Meetings are held at 1 p.m. Thursdays at the Tamaqua YMCA, 1201 E. Broad St.Bethany ECThe Rev. Kevin Roberts will officiate at the 8 and 10:30 a.m. worship services this Sunday in Bethany Evangelical Congregational Church. Sunday school classes meet at 9:15 a.m.Activities for next week include: Tuesday, prayer gathering at 8:30 a.m.; Wednesday, Tamaqua Youth Ministry meets at 6:30 p.m., GriefShare meets at 7 p.m.: Thursday, worship team meets at 7 p.m., worship team leaders meet at 8 p.m.The National Conference will be held from 8 to 9 a.m. May 24 through May 28.Zion LewistownThis Sunday, in honor of Memorial Day, there will be a joint service for members of Zion Lewistown and Calvary United Methodist churches.
