A Nesquehoning man failed to meet the requirements of Megan's Law by registering with the police department.
Nesquehoning police charged Vincent John Smith II, 43, of West Railroad Street, with two counts of failing to comply with registration requirements of sexual offenders.According to the affidavit, filed by police Chief Sean Smith, on Feb. 21, police received a request by Pennsylvania State Police's Megan's Law unit in Harrisburg to verify Vincent Smith's information because he had not checked in since Nov. 3, 2016.Smith is a lifetime registrant with the Megan's Law unit and is required to register his current address with state police every three months.Nesquehoning police contacted Vincent Smith, who told them he registered with the state police Lehighton barracks on Jan. 6 and updated his vehicle information at that time. He also showed police paperwork from the barracks.While Smith complied with registering his vehicle, he did not re-register his home address.As of March 27, state police said Smith still had not registered the required information.He was arraigned before District Judge Casimir Kosciolek on May 11, who set bail at $2,000 unsecured. He was scheduled for a preliminary hearing wWednesday.
