Car takes out traffic light in Lehighton

tahner@tnonline.comA vehicle lost control and crashed in Lehighton Monday night, taking out a traffic light in the process.Borough Police Chief Brian Biechy said police received a call at about 6:40 p.m. to the incident that occurred at South First and Iron streets.Biechy said the female driver got distracted and veered off the road, at which time her vehicle struck the pole.The road was blocked off to traffic for about a half-hour, Biechy said.No injuries were reported.

The traffic light is green for the moment as it rests in the street after it was taken out during the crash. The road was blocked off to traffic for about a half-hour.
