A crash downed a traffic signal pole in Lehighton. Traffic is backing up as a result.

The incident was reported along First Street (Route 209 North) near its intersection with Bankway Street.

Pictures posted online show that someone struck the pole and caused it to fall across the street. The driver's condition was not available.

According to radio dispatchers, a temporary stop sign will be in place until further notice.
