Hawk Mountain Council hosts annual breakfast

The Hawk Mountain Council, Boy Scouts of America, will host its third annual Service to Youth and Community Breakfast at 8

a.m.June 1 at the Hawk Mountain Scout Reservation, Schuylkill Haven.This year's event chairman is county Commissioner Gary J. Hess Jr. Vice chairman is Timothy Twardzik.The breakfast is a fundraising event that will provide those in attendance an opportunity to network with others and learn about the scouting programs from the scouts themselves.It is also an opportunity for the Hawk Mountain Council to recognize residents who have provided exemplary community service that has improved the quality of life in Schuylkill County and beyond.Those attending will also have an opportunity to tour the facility and take a ride on a dual zip line.This year the Hawk Mountain Council is honored to recognize James L. Miller, president and co-founder of Miller Bros. Construction Inc., Schuylkill Haven.Miller will be honored with the Distinguished Service to Youth and Community Award.The award recognizes those who have an unwavering dedication to their communities and youth programs in Schuylkill and Carbon counties.Past recipients of the award include Albert L. Evans Jr., Carol and Timothy Twardzik, and the Schaeffer family.The council will also recognize two other outstanding volunteers, Jerry Beaver and David Fry, for their commitment and dedication to improving the lives of young men and women in Schuylkill County.The funds raised from the breakfast will assist with the services provided to the packs, troops, venture crews and explorer posts in Schuylkill County and parts of Carbon County.
