Planners recommend rejection for L. Tow. subdivision proposal

Carbon County planners feel there is a lot more to be done before an association can move forward with its subdivision plans.

On Tuesday, the planning commission recommended conditional plan rejection for the Carbon County Lion/Lioness Fair Association Inc.'s proposed subdivision near Little Gap Road in Lower Towamensing Township. The plans call for subdividing 682.94 acres of land into three lots.Ivan O. Meixell Jr., county planner, said that this isn't the Carbon County Fairgrounds, and that a lot of this land is wetlands.He outlined his findings to the commission before the vote, pointing out a number of nonconforming areas.They included the soils on the plan not being soils found in Carbon County, plan sheets not having the correct information, highway occupancy permits for the three lots not provided, and other plan requirements not shown.Carbon County Planning Commission reviews proposed plans to make recommendations that then go to the municipality in which the plans would be executed for further review.
